Actor Design are able to create and display ‘Theatre Reels’ on your media page, which is a great way of presenting your best theatrical photographs and stills.
What is a ‘Theatre Reel’?
A ‘theatre reel’ is very similar to a showreel, but instead of using film and television clips, we put together a short video presentation using your best theatre photographs or stills. We put these photographic images together with optional background music and text slides, which may include any outstanding quotes or reviews you may have received which otherwise would be missed if you just used a gallery for your images. We can also include any ‘audio clips’ into the soundtrack if you have any. The ‘reel’ can then be embedded into your media page and is simply viewed by clicking on the play icon. The reel doesn’t have to be just theatrical shots, we can make a presentation using headshots and any other photographs you want to use. Or how about a short video highlighting all your best stage performances?
How is a ‘Theatre Reel’ viewed?
A theatre reel is viewed by embedding a video file into your website. It is usually a MP4 video file and the browser will require FLASH on thier computer in order to view the video. The video player will have the usual play, pause and stop button features.
Why use a ‘Theatre Reel’?
A theatre reel is a far more interesting way of showing your theatre photo images than simply putting them into a static gallery. Your completed ‘theatre reel’ can also be uploaded to YouTube so you can promote yourself even further. When we have created your ‘Theatre Reel’ we can either host the video for you and send you the link or send you the MP4 file via email or on a disc.
How is a ‘Theatre Reel’ made?
We have specialist designer software that we use to turn your photographs into a stunning animated slide show. You can suggest the music backing track yourself or we can add some copyright free music for you at no extra cost. We also design your ‘text slides’ for the reel based on the information that you send us. We also add opening and closing titles with your website address displayed on the final shot.
How long should a ‘Theatre Reel’ be?
They can be of any length, though we only recommend them to last for approximately one to two minutes. A short, succinct and well designed ‘reel’ can promote your theatre work very effectively. And it looks far more exciting than clicking through a gallery album.
How many photos do I need for a ‘Theatre Reel’?
For a 90 second ‘theatre reel’, around a dozen or so photos would be sufficient. The photographs need to be of good quality and need to be emailed to us with any accompanying quote notes. We can then design any quotes or reviews slides and include them in your presentation.
What sort of ‘Theatre Reel’ themes do you do?
We do two types of ‘reel’. One is a standard ‘fade-in’ and ‘fade-out’ reel, with simple text slides and no moving photographic effects. These are very easy to watch and also easy view and will play well on any computer or hand held device that uses flash. The other style of ‘reel’ is of a more flamboyant style, with various artistic effects and transitions. This reel will have a bit more movement to the slide show. Take a look at our two examples below.
Theatre Reel with ‘standard play and no effects’
Theatre Reel with ‘multiple effects’
How much does a ‘Theatre Reel’ cost?
We charge £60 for a ‘theatre reel’ of between one and two minutes depending on your material. We are able to add the ‘reel’ to your media page on your website. We will host the video for you. We can also send you the finished presentation on a disc if you require it.
Will I have to pay any additional hosting fees for this ‘Theatre Reel’?
